Wednesfield

Here I am Rune
Distance 1.4 miles
Total 757 Locks 28 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1122.7 miles

After a surprisingly quiet night in the centre of Wolverhampton we have taken just a short hop to Wednesfield where we have moored in the Bentley Bridge basin which is alongside the retail park. On the way we passed through an even shorter tunnel than Cowley tunnel, Wolverhampton ‘Tunnel’ really is just a long bridge. Bentley Bridge basin looks like a decent mooring for the weekend since we are near to a supermarket (Sainsburys), a Swimming pool, bowling alley and a cinema plus a few other decent shops. Also the internet signal is good (important for the last weekend of this year’s Formula 1 season!).

Only slight worry at the moment is that the washing machine decided to start to play up filling the boat with the smell of burnt rubber. I took the machine out and checked it as best I can (all I can usually deal with are broken drive belts) but found nothing obviously wrong. Put the machine back and tested it on a spin which it carried out alright but it does have a bit of a squeak. Will need to try it on a full load to see if it malfunctions again, it is possible that it was just overloaded. Hope that is the case because, being a compact washing machine it appears that, looking on the internet, they are quite expensive.
