A splendid autumn day to be travelling along the canal. Only
managed 3.4 miles although there were also 4 locks so 7.4 ‘lock miles’. Will
try slightly harder tomorrow and at least reach Nantwich since we have a couple
of things that need to be done when we get there. Crew needs to pick up her
glasses and we need more food supplies.
Whilst Autumn isn’t particularly my favourite time of year
since the daylight is getting less, it’s getting colder and everything is dying
off, on a day like today with bright sunshine (to start with!)it is a real
pleasure to be cruising along the canals, a point proven by the fact that on
such a day there are a lot of boats out taking advantage of the weather.
Surprisingly for the time of year there are also quite a lot of hire boats
still out and about, although this is school half term week so that may have
some bearing on it.
