Well that was quite an impressive day’s work, 16 locks and
5.6 miles of canal so 21.6 ‘lock miles’ which has brought us to Market Drayton.
Once we got into the rhythm of the Audlem flight we seemed to get through them
quite quickly, despite nearly all of the locks being against us. It was also
the perfect Autumn day to be out on the cut, bright sunshine but with a bit of
a nip in the air. It also looks as though the forecast for tomorrow has now
improved and the risk of rain has diminished.
Last night in Audlem was quite spectacular as they put on a
fairly impressive firework display which must have run for about 30 minutes.
Watching it from the canal improved the experience since it was all reflected
in the water, well done Audlem.
Not sure what the plan for tomorrow will be, I was expecting
rain so had intended to remain here for a day or so, but if the risk of rain
has gone we might push on.
