And so to Walsall Top Lock moorings for the night. Not quite what I was hoping for but it’ll do. The Wyreley and Essington Canal that we are travelling on seems quite shallow in places so our progress has been fairly slow, not helped by running into a tree that was submerged across the canal. There don’t seem to be a lot of mooring places on these canals, I was hoping for some mooring at Sneyd Junction where we stopped for the Elsan point but the only mooring was on the service point. Since there doesn’t seem to be anything other than us (and a CRT workboat) moving on this section of canal we took lunch at the Sneyd Junction service point reasonably happy that we wouldn’t inconvenience anyone.

Tomorrow we’ll carry on towards Brownhills via the Cannock extension.
