Moss Lock

Here I am Rune
Distance 4.2 miles
Total 1160 Locks 68 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1681.3 miles

After the stand-still day yesterday we have now move on to the Rufford Branch, the trip we’d intended to do yesterday. The wind has abated a bit and it has been reasonably sunny so, all in all it was a pleasant trip. The first few locks on the Rufford were OK as they had volunteers helping out but these locks are slightly shorter than most we have come across so it needs a little bit of care to avoid the cill when going down. Stopped off at Burscough Bridge sanitary station to do the necessaries and also to stock up on milk and dispose of our collection of glass for recycling. Short day’s travelling today so that a) we get time to sort out Sunday lunch and b) I get chance to watch Formula 1.

Tomorrow I would think we’ll probably get to Tarleton which is as far as we go on the Rufford and possibly back as far as Bridge 8A (Spark Bridge) where there are all facilities including a shower (allegedly).
