After yesterday’s warm and sunny trip I was rather hoping that the weather may be improving, today’s trip showed that I was sadly mistaken! It started out OK with warm sunshine but after a short while the damn wind returned and the temperature dropped 10 degrees again. Now sitting in the boat typing this up and listening to a gale blowing outside again. There is a good chance that we may put the central heating on tonight and this is supposed to be June!

If it gets this windy here I don’t know how bad it is going to get as we start to climb up onto the Pennines. We didn’t come across many boats moving today but then Friday isn’t really a day for moving on this section of the canal. The next escorted passage into Liverpool won’t be until Sunday so those wishing to travel then probably won’t go down to bridge 10 until tomorrow. Have decided that we’ll moor up tomorrow for lunch at Burscough and get the weekend shopping in then head off up the Rufford Branch over the weekend.
