And so we leave Liverpool to head out across the Pennines to get to Leeds, for the benefit of the group issuing the trans-pennine boat plaque, here is a photo of RUNE in the Eldonian Basin (just to prove we’ve been there!).

The end of Eldonian basin (where Tate and Lyle Sugar Factory once was)

The weather today was glorious, bright sunshine and virtually no wind so the passage through the docks and along the Leeds Liverpool Canal has been excellent. I don’t think I’ve suffered any sunburn today, but it was close.
We picked up a few bits of plastic on the propeller as we made our way along, and also had to stop and reverse the engine a couple of times in the dock area as we became tangled in seaweed (that’s a novelty, find weed down the weed hatch rather than other crud.

Not quite sure how our plans will work out over the next couple of days since the intention is to go up the Rufford Branch but if we do that there isn’t much in the way of shops to get the weekend food. Will need to think that one out.
