So today we got the Tidal Trent bit out of the way, generally went OK, a bit windy in places and having inadvertently moved slightly off channel at one point we rode over a sand bar, but other than that no great dramas. We travelled down with two other narrow boats, one of whom went on ahead as he had a bigger propeller, and the other one remained behind us all the way. The travelling time was 3 hours and 25 minutes from Cromwell Lock to here at Torksey, I suspect it will take us a while longer when we come to go back again, last time we ran out of tide about an hour from Cromwell lock and the final bit was slow.

We stayed on the 3 day mooring below Torksey Lock this time as passage through the lock wasn’t going to be available until 6pm and in the event it became 7pm, so we’ll go up onto the Fossdyke tomorrow morning, although it is an early rise (for me) since we need to be up and ready to go through the lock by 10am.
