We reached our intended destination at Langley Mill today although it is a slow plod up to here. One of the issues for me is that there are panels on the top lock gates under which it is possible to catch the bow of the boat, so on each lock I’ve been holding the boat back away from the lock gate. Since two of the paddles are on the gates, it also requires a bit of care in working the locks since it’s ill advised to just throw the gate paddles open since there is a good chance of flooding the cratch.

 

Going back should hopefully be slightly easier, partly because we will be travelling with the flow of the canal and partly because it is possible to throw the paddles open more since going down there isn’t the same chance to flood the boat.

 

Not sure yet how long we’ll stay here, at least tomorrow, possibly Saturday as well, who knows at the moment.
