Travelled further than was my original intention, 8 miles and 12 locks, but it was a pleasant day for travelling, so why not. Put the alternator to further test this morning by running the washing machine before setting off, and except for a brief flash of the overload warning light when the fridge kicked in, all seemed OK at the moment.

Got through Fradley Junction with no real drama, there were volunteer lock-keepers on duty which helped us along, but for a bank holiday the canal wasn’t as busy as I would have expected, although the hospitality businesses at Fradley Junction looked busy.

We originally stopped for the night at Tatenhill but then checked the map as saw that 48 hour moorings were available by the next bridge at Branston (famed for it’s pickle) so we moved on up. Tomorrow it should be a fairly short run into Burton on Trent.
