Here I am Rune
Distance 2.9 miles
Total 996 Locks 56 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1367.1 miles
As hoped for, we managed to team up with another boat to
come up the Hatton flight of locks and as a result were through them in just 3
¼ hours working out at about 7 ‘lock miles’ per hour, which is pretty
reasonable. What was quite surprising was just how quiet the locks were for an
Easter Sunday with reasonable weather. We only passed one boat coming down the
locks although the helm of the boat we travelled up with said that he had been
moored at The Cape of Good Hope public house at Warwick and had seen loads of
boat earlier all heading towards the locks from Warwick so perhaps they are all
ahead of us. We stopped for the day pretty much as soon as we had reached the
top of the locks since we needed time to cook the Sunday lunch (and it seems to
be quite a nice mooring!).
Tomorrow we press on towards Knowle flight of locks, not
sure yet whether we’ll moor above or below them although if we go through them
we’ll have completed our 1000th lock.
