Today we passed through our last locks until after we’ve
gone through Fradley Junction, so a quiet couple of days for the crew. At least
now that we are out of Birmingham we are getting less crud around the propeller
making progress easier. It is also quite pleasant to be back out into the
countryside again, even though we were only in the urban area for less than
three days. Before leaving Minworth we stocked up for the weekend at the local
ASDA which is an enormous shop but hasn’t got as much variety of stock as I
would have hoped. Have had to do without some things on the list (Applewood cheese)
but I’m sure we’ll get by. Looking at the map I’m not sure of where the next
major town with shopping area will be. We should reach Fazeley junction
tomorrow but there are not that many shops in Fazeley, would probably need to
go to Tamworth to find any major supermarkets. Hope the weather tomorrow is as
good, or better, than today.
