Nantwich

Here I am Rune
Distance 3.3 miles
Total 675 Locks 26 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1018.2 miles

Another short day to take us off the Llangollen canal and back onto the main Shropshire Union Canal (although in reality the Llangollen is actually a branch of the Shropshire Union). The only real activity was to go down through Hurleston Locks which this time was without incident (going up there wasn’t enough water in the central pound for me to get out of the centre lock). They are certainly very narrow locks, there wasn’t much available space either side of RUNE as we went down.

We are now in Nantwich and have taken the opportunity, now that we are off the comparatively shallow Llangollen Canal, to refuel having put 130 litres in at the Nantwich Chandlery. This is probably the biggest refuel we have done so far but it should see us through until next month (November). Not sure whether we will remain in Nantwich for the permitted 48 hours on the mooring or move off tomorrow towards Chester.
