Chester (still)

Although we haven’t moved anywhere still have had quite a busy day in Chester. The main intention for me today was to get the bike serviced, which it has needed for quite a while. The chain, chain rings and rear cassette were all pretty much shot and needed replacement and I was expecting to end out paying something in the region of £80 to get this done, the final cost at a shop called The Bike Factory was only about £37 so I’m very pleased with that. Also got some replacement cable for another £6 and repaired a puncture on the trailer. Then took the opportunity to have another look at the centre of Chester (photos below) and have to say I’m impressed, it is a bit like Nantwich but with more of that style of buildings.

By tomorrow we’ll have been at our moorings for the permitted 48 hours so will need to move on, the trip along the canal below the city walls looks as though it will be interesting as the canal itself was hewn out of the solid rock and it is in a narrow channel. At the moment by boat is the only way that you can view the route (unless you look at it on Google Earth Street Level) as the towpath has been closed by falling rock, hope no more falls tomorrow as we pass through!
