Whitestone

Here I am Rune
Distance 9.3 miles
Total 512 Locks 15 Tunnels
Running total mileage 735.3 miles

Back on the move we have travelled up the Coventry Canal and now onto the Ashby Canal, moored near to Whitestone. No particular dramas on the way here, it is a bit of a tight turn from the Coventry Canal onto the Ashby at Marston Junction, and the Canal and River Trust have reinforced the embankment alongside the bridge since it would seem that quite a lot of people hit the bank there. Once into the Ashby canal it is a very narrow entrance through an old Stop lock before getting onto the Canal proper. The book says that it can be a bit shallow in places but it hasn’t been too much of a problem so far, although we still have another 21 miles to go so plenty of time yet to start running aground.

The Bridge at Hawkesbury Junction (a very sharp turn to the left once through the bridge towards the Lock)

Another angle on the bridge
