Having taken an extra day in Braunston since there are a few interesting chandleries to visit we have now moved on up into new country on the North Oxford canal. Currently going around Rugby and expecting to moor near to the large Tesco’s tomorrow to do the weekend shopping. This canal is now back onto the narrow locks (as opposed to the broad locks of the Grand Union) and they are certainly quicker to deal with as they empty and fill a lot quicker. Today’s locks were double locks which is even better since you rarely have to wait very long to get through. Stopped off at the Canal Shop at Hillmorton Wharf marina to refuel for the month, at the grand cost of £78.99 for 85 litres of fuel, that should see us OK until at least mid August.
None of the dramas of our approach to Braunston today, just a pleasant cruise though a pleasant rural landscape.
