Stoke Golding

Here I am Rune
Distance 7.9 miles
Total 512 Locks 15 Tunnels
Running total mileage 743.2 miles

Further on up the Ashby Canal to Stoke Golding today. This is a very pleasant, rural canal passing through peaceful countryside. Tomorrow the intention is to moor near to or on the battlefield moorings near the site of the battle of Bosworth Field which was the last significant battle of the English Civil War and the battle in which Richard III lost his life. This will give us chance to visit the battlefield. The other place of interest along here is the Battlefield Line, a steam railway running from Shackerston to Shenton, might be worth a visit.
