Another busy day of locking, with 10 locks under our belt. I quite like these locks, particularly when going down since it is just a case of throw open the paddles and drain the lock, no worries about the boat bumping around in the lock. It was interesting doing the Bascote Flight as there were two boats coming up whilst we were going down. The crew working the lock weren’t quite sure of how it works so needed clearance from the skipper on the boat before they’d go with the idea of us going down at the same time as them going up. It’s fairly straightforward, although a bit like one of those puzzles where you move blocks around to make the right pattern. All it takes is for one the middle gates are opened, the boat with the empty space moves forward to fill it then pushes their boat across to the other side of the lock allowing the second boat to come into the space they have left. That wasn’t exactly how it went, but we got through.

Now moored at the pleasant moorings at Radford Semele beofre heading onto the Warwick moorings tomorrow.
