Just a shot hop today to the last bridge before Braunston Tunnel, giving me easy access to Daventry to get some engine bits. Glad we had already decided to moor here before we even set off from Welton since we caught up with a very slow boat about 400 yards back and I really wouldn’t have wanted to be behind him in the tunnel. The speed he was travelling at our boat wont do under drive so it would have been a case of constantly in and out of drive through the tunnel, I didn’t fancy that at all. Be interesting how the boat that was following us gets on since he was doing quite a pace and faster than us since despite being 400 yards behind us at Norton Junction, they had virtually caught up by the time we came up behind the slow boat. If he is in a rush he is about to have a bg disappointment.

We’ll stay here until tomorrow morning then head through the tunnel followed by Braunston Locks hoping to arrive in Braunston about lunchtime.
