We made it to our booking to get onto the Montgomery Canal, although it needed a slightly earlier start than is usual for us. We were moored about 4 miles from the junction but speed on this canal is only about 2 miles per so a couple of hours to get to the start of the Montgomery in time for midday. The sunshine was very pleasant, in fact for October it has been better weather than we had for periods in August.

The moorings on the Montgomery seem few and far between and, looking for a mooring, we are already more than halfway along the navigable bit, and we are booked to be down here until Thursday. I think tomorrow we’ll try and find a mooring near Maesbury and then head back to the moorings by the locks on Wednesday to be ready to go up on Thursday morning.
