It was a longer, and slower day than expected. Coming out of Ely along the Ouse River yesterday we were travelling at about 3.5mph to last night’s mooring. That all ends when you pass where the River Cam comes in and then the width and depth reduce quite a bit. Meaning that it took us about 4.5 hours to get here at Earith Marina.

The mooring is a bit of a first for us since I cannot remember mooring overnight on a tidal bit of river before, but then the tidal movement here, 35 miles from the coast, isn’t that great. I was concerned that this mooring would be full since, had that been the case, we would have had to carry on to St Ives, another 8 miles up the river, but it all worked out OK and we’ll arrive in St Ives tomorrow.
