Well we have got up onto the lodes but I have to say that progress is slow. I’m used to going fairly slow, but the GPS gave a speed of 0.8mph on several bits on the way up Reach Lode, and that is well below walking speed. The second lode, up here to Burwell was a lot better and allowed speeds of abut 2.5mph in places, although we did keep getting weed around the propeller.

Had a quick look around Burwell, mainly because we needed to get some milk, and it looks to be quite a pleasant mooring for the night. Tomorrow it will be back to Upware and a quick trip along Wicken Lode to Wicken Fen, it looks to be just over a mile from the junction at Upware, then back onto the River Cam heading for Cambridge.
