A pretty short day’s cruise today, down to the poor weather
unfortunately. Started from Hunt’s Lock at nearly lunchtime to get onto Northwich
town moorings (a distance of about 700 yards!). Waited for the rain to stop
then nipped into town to get the necessary shopping. Everything was done by
about 3pm but since the last lift in Anderton Boat lift is at 3.45pm decided
that we weren’t going to make it today so stopped off at the Northwich sanitary
station to refill with water and empty the Elsan cassettes. We are now moored
alongside the boat lift ready to go up tomorrow and continue up the Trent and
Mersey. Hope that the weather we get isn’t what is forecast (Thunderstorms).
