Warwick

Here I am Rune
Distance 2.5 miles
Total 1586 Locks 80 Tunnels
Running total mileage 2224 miles

Today was the day to go back down the Hatton Flight and I have to say it went quite well, the weather was reasonable and we managed to double up with another boat so it only took us 3 hours and 20 minutes to get down, compared to the 4 hours and 12 minutes it took us to get up. We were watching the ‘Great Canal Journeys’ TV programme with Timothy West and Prunella Scales and curiously enough their trip also incorporated the Hatton Flight but with the assistance of 6 CRT shore crew they managed to get down in just over 2 hours, I don’t think we can aspire to that!

We will probably remain where we are now until the weekend as it is convenient for the railway station that I need on Saturday to get to Birmingham, we still have a few things to visit in Warwick but most importantly, the weather forecast for tomorrow is dire so staying put seem a good option.

  1. I think you made good time especially since you lifted some paddles as we followed you down. Thanks again.
