An ideal day for travelling, although it did get a bit warm later in the day but we made it as far as Sprotborough for a very pleasant meal out in The Boat inn with some relatives. Having had an evening of chat we have now arranged to meet up with them again in Rotherham for a trip through to Sheffield on Monday although this needs to be confirmed with CRT since it is necessary to book the passage through Tinsley Locks a day in advance of the proposed trip.

The river from Doncaster is very pleasant and scenic with not a lot in the way of industrialisation. Plan for tomorrow is another fairly short day’s travel to Mexborough low lock or Mexborough top lock and another short day on Sunday to take us to Eastwood Lock in Rotherham ready to go through the Tinsley Flight on Monday. We’ll probably be coming back up the Tinsley flight on Tuesday so it won’t be a long stay in Sheffield.
