Eastwood Lock

Here I am Rune
Distance 7.3 miles
Total 1330 Locks 70 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1874.8 miles

Now back as far as Eastwood Lock on the outskirts of Rotherham, will need to do a little re-jig on the number of locks that we have been through. Rather strangely going through from Rotherham to Sheffield the Tinsley Flight are numbered 1 – 12 however there are only 11 actual locks! It is only when I viewed the locks on the map that I saw that locks 7 & 8 are just one lock, it was quite a deep lock so I assume that they have combined two locks together. The weather for today’s trip was excellent, warm and sunny and much the same seems to be forecast for the next couple of days although tomorrow may again be a bit of a short day stopping at Mexborough again but the following day will be longer to get as far as Doncaster.
A better class of Graffiti!

On point of interest as we were entering Rotherham I noticed a fig tree at the side of the canal, and it had fair sized figs on it (Global Warming?), whether they fully ripen will be another question altogether.
