Rawcliffe Bridge

Here I am Rune
Distance 2.4 miles
Total 1291 Locks 70 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1831.6 miles

A very short hop out of Goole and back to Rawcliffe Bridge to a)moor up and avoid an impending thunderstorm and b)visit Rawcliffe cemetery to pay respects to some family members. Judging by how the wind picked up after the rainstorm, mooring for the day was probably a good move. Having seen a simply enormous boat pass us on our mooring in Goole docks last night I asked the guy in Goole Boathouse Chandlers when it was likely to be coming back, he thought that it would probably be today so we have kept an eye open for it but no sign of it so far. If it comes past at the very slow speed it passed last night there will be no problem but I wouldn’t want to meet it if it were travelling at speed! Took on some more fuel at Goole Boathouse and also managed to get a copy of the Tidal Trent map to help us navigate down from Keady to Cromwell Lock.

My plan for tomorrow is to get probably as far as Barnby Dun (what a lovely name!) where there are full facilities and, according to my map, showers.
