It was worth waiting the extra day to travel the final few
miles of the Stourbridge Canal down to Stourton Junction. Having spent the last
few months touring the BCN it was a pleasure to get back out into the
countryside. The only disappointment was that we didn’t get to spot our ‘daily
Kingfisher’ which we seemed to get last time we were out in the country. No
real dramas today, just a gentle cruise down and back taking in 4 locks down
and 4 locks back again. I seems likely that we will stay here in Stourbridge
until Monday since we aren’t likely to get through both the Stourbridge flight
of locks (16) and the Delph flight of locks (8) in a single day. We will aim to
get to the bottom of the Delph flight for the overnight stay but the way the
weather looks at the moment Sunday is due to be a day of rain. If we leave
Stourbridge without stocking up from the Supermarkets we wont have food for
Sunday but if we do a shop it will be too late to set off to get to Delph, so
we’ll stay where we are.
Good news is that the washing machine is due for delivery
tomorrow.
