A trip in the rain from Bumble Hole to Merry Hill took us about 2 hours, although that involved a stop to empty the Elsan at Blowers Green lock. Last time we were here at Merry Hill we pretty much stayed on the boat but this time I needed to pop to the nearest supermarket to get something for tomorrow’s breakfast. That was when I found out just how big the Merry Hill mall actually is, it’s huge. Found a branch of Maplins to replace our faulty 2 way radio that we use to communicate whilst in the locks. The other surprise to me at the Waterfront development is just how deserted it is, the place is almost like a ghost town, they must be some sort of financial problem here because I can’t see how they can keep such a large development virtually empty. There are however 3 pubs here, one of which is playing music quite loudly at the moment. Can’t really complain since what can you expect if you moor opposite a pub!
