Merry Hill...still

Here I am Rune
Distance 0 miles
Total 818 Locks 40 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1244.8miles

A zero mileage day today to enable us to cook the Sunday roast and carry out a number of boaty sort of tasks. Top of the list was to refill the water tank but that wasn’t as straightforward as would be expected. Despite Merry Hill being a modern development the design of the water point here would leave a lot to be desired. The CRT sanitary station is located just as you enter The Waterfront from the direction of Blowers Green. There is an access road between this and the canal that is used continually by traffic leaving the three pubs that remain here. The water point is inside the sanitary station which would mean that, assuming that your hose is long enough (ours isn’t) it would have to pass across the roadway to reach the boat, the amount of traffic would quickly chew up the hose (assuming it had reached). The only solution was to manually carry the water from the water point back to the boat which took about a hour and a half to take on 200 litres of water (it is surprising just how much water that you use per day, we use about 50 litres).

Having refilled the water tank, emptied the toilet cassette and got rid of the rubbish be are now sorted for a few days (well until Friday anyway). We’ll probably stay here tomorrow as well since rain is forecast and it is the crew’s birthday so, with three pubs here, we have options if she wants to go out for a meal.
