The cunning plan to head into Birmingham City Centre today
rather fell at the first hurdle. When we got up this morning the wind was blowing
a decent Force 5 (about 20mph) which would have made trying to manoeuvre out of
Hawne Basin a bit unwise. There are
quite a lot of boats in here and not a lot of space to move around, it was
obvious to me that any attempt to leave would have resulted in our boat being
blown onto other moored boats and, in a 20mph wind, being pinned there. The
wind is due to drop tomorrow to begin with down to about 10 – 14mph, still a
bit challenging but more achievable than today. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
