Brownhills once again

Here I am Rune
Distance 0 miles
Total 757 Locks 28 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1145.7 miles

Having stayed at Brownhills for the extra day I took the opportunity of travelling to the nearest branch of Halfords to stock up on antifreeze for the engine. Particularly wanted to get their brand of antifreeze since that is what is currently in the engine and didn’t want to mix another type with it. To get to the nearest Halfords did involve a 10 mile bike ride but then I probably need the exercise. Also took the opportunity to photograph the Brownhills miner statue. I have to say that I didn’t realise the importance of mining to this part of the country until we visited it. There was the colliery and open cast mine out at Anglesey Wharf and numerous other mines in the area. The statue itself is quite impressive and has apparently been here since 2006. When erected it cost £70,000 which may sound quite a lot but it is made of stainless steel and stands 30 feet high so isn’t such a bad deal.

The weather forecast for tomorrow seems pretty good at the moment so will be moving off down towards Longwood Junction.
