As planned we took the short hop from Cromwell Lock into Newark, although moorings were a bit sparse. The pontoon moorings were all taken and we’ve moored to the rings on the opposite site of the river, the trouble is that the wall isn’t straight so we are toouching at the bow and stern but about 2 feet out in the middle of the boat. Rather hoping for a space to emerge on the pontoon moorings tomorrow since they are easier for getting on and off with shopping.

 

Interestingly, where we are moored doesn’t have the same restrictions as the pontoon mooring, we could, if we wanted to, stay here for 14 days. The problem with not getting onto the pontoon though is that is where the water point point is. In anticipation of few available moorings we put some water in the tank at Nether Lock but that has the odd set up in that you have to take on water whilst still in the lock since that is where the tap is. We were warned that it was a slow tap so we put about 25 minutes worth of water in before we were told a couple of boats were coming so we had either to go, or go down and back up in the lock, we chose the former option.

 

How long we stay here rather depends upon whether or not we get a pontoon mooring tomorrow or not.
