Passage along the canal improved markedly today, we were generally travelling at 2mph for a lot of the way and didn’t have to go down the weed hatch once. We have passed through Worksop and am now moored outside the Lock Keeper pub where the intention is to have our Saturday evening meal, it looks to be mainly a dining pub rather than a drinking pub so hoping not to be disturbed by drunks tonight (always a risk when mooring outside a pub!).

Although the forecast was for thunderstorms today’s trip was actually very pleasant, in fact too hot at times. The thunderstorm did eventually arrive but we were already moored up by that time so, other than having to wait in the Sainsbury’s supermarket whilst it stopped, we were not inconvenienced by it.

Not sure how far we will get tomorrow, it is only about 6 miles to the end of the navigable canal however there are 29 locks contained in those 6 miles! It does look a bit like a ‘Magnus Magnussen’ choice once you start off down the last flight of 23 locks since there are no mooring places until you reach the bottom so it is a sort ‘I’ve started so I’ll have to finish’ situation!
