Kiveton

Here I am Rune
Distance 3.5 miles
Total 1389 Locks 71 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1956.1 miles

I have to say that they are maintaining this section of the Chesterfield Canal very well, we have gone from Shireoaks all the way to the winding hole at Kiveton without a single forced trip down the weedhatch. It is an extremely picturesque section of canal running through woodland and the locks are very well maintained so the whole trip was without any real dramas. We are now as far along the canal as it is possible to navigate which is a few hundred yards short of the old Norwood Tunnel which has been closed due to collapse. We will probably stay here for a day or so then make our way back down the canal and back out onto the River Trent.
