We now have our first experience of the Middle Levels and although there is a lot of mat weed and progress seemed slow, we have got to Whittlesey in about an hour and forty minutes so we have kept up a reasonable pace. The moorings at Whittlesey were already full when we got here so we have doubled up mooring alongside a boat called ‘Rosetta’ which looks as though it may have been here for a while, and has no-one aboard.

There is a bit of a dearth of moorings on the Middle levels since according to my map the next available mooring on our route is at Floods Ferry Marina, about 3 miles this side of March, and it is a pay mooring. The intended destination for tomorrow will be March, but I haven’t decided whether we’ll get to Salter’s Lode on Thursday or Friday, we’ll see what progress we make tomorrow.
