Stoke Prior

Here I am Rune
Distance  3.9 miles
Total 3239 Locks  176 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4762.6 miles

We have moved on from the Droitwich Barge canal to the Droitwich Junction canal, the significant difference being that we are no onto narrow locks again. I remain a fan of the Droitwich canals however, pleasant countryside, well maintained locks and enough depth of water. The passage under the M5 gets a little bit low, but then we are quite a low boat and managed to pass without having to remove any of our roof furniture and had about 5 inches to spare. This section does however go up and down a bit so if we pass through again we’ll still need to be careful.

Getting out at Hanbury Junction was a bit confused because there was a boat trying to come into the Droitwich Junction canal and the turn has been made a bit awkward by moored CRT workboats but we eventually got around it. Also took the opportunity to get rid of the old engine oil from the last oil change at the recycling centre near to the junction.

We just have the flight of 6 Stoke Locks and then we start on the flight of 30 locks that is Tardebigge.
