Bentley Bridge Wolverhampton

Here I am  Rune
Distance  12.7 miles
Total 3174.7 Locks  172 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4714.7 miles

A slightly slower trip than anticipated taking us until about 4.30pm to get to the mooring at Bentley Bridge. I think the problem was some plastic and weed that had wrapped around the prop shaft and couldn’t be dislodged by the usual method of a short burst of reverse drive.

Whilst at Hawne Basin we have filled with diesel, changed the gas bottle, got some fresh oil and had a fair old chinwag in the club last night about boating. We also found that  we are still on the mooring waiting list although at first we though we’d been deleted. There are no guarantees about how long it is likely to take to get to the top of the list because the moorings are allocated to length rather than just who is first on the list. If you are first on the list with a 40foot boat and a 60 foot mooring  comes up, it will go to the person with a 60 foot boat. It could be a short wait or it could be a long wait, not that we are over concerned either way.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, we’ll be off down the Wolverhampton flight of locks to get back onto the Staffs and Worcester canal, heading south.
