Wrenbury

Here I am Rune
Distance  6.4 miles
Total 2997 Locks  154 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4373.3 miles

The weather today wasn’t as bad as forecast, generally it was dry with a few showers as opposed to the forecast of rain for most of the morning. We have progressed to about where I wanted to be, which is just beyond Wrenbury so that we have a reasonably easy day tomorrow to take us to the bottom of the Grindley Brook flight, which hopefully should be re-opening tomorrow afternoon after the Winter Stoppage for repairs. Today’s trip incorporated 5 locks and 3 lift bridges, the one thing we didn’t get was any other boats on the move.

Whilst pottering along the canal I was reminiscing that it is now 44 years since I first came up this canal with a group of 5 other mates back in the days when hire companies were quite happy to hire the boats out to all male groups. It was quite a memorable holiday.
