Chirk

Here I am Rune
Distance  8.3 miles
Total 3009 Locks  157 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4405.1 miles

We managed the 10 miles, 2 locks and 2 tunnels but have stopped just short of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct since this is probably the best place to moor. I seem to recall that last time we came through there wasn’t much in the way of mooring in Trevor and we ended up double banked in the basin so we have stayed here on otherwise empty visitor moorings. There was also a bonus of some free wood by the canalside from a tree cut down by CRT to we’ve had a few logs from that to help the coal last a bit longer, hopefully until the weather improves.

Haven’t yet decided how far we are going to go yet, we will certainly cross the aqueduct since that is the purpose of coming this far but whether we continue up to Llangollen is still up for debate. The advantage is that is where the nearest sanitary station is so we could empty the toilet cassette, the disadvantage is that it is very slow as you are pushing into the current.
