Old Linslade

Here I am Rune
Distance 5.8 miles
Total 448 Locks 8 Tunnels
Running total mileage 598.9 miles

Pushed slightly further north of Leighton Buzzard to Old Linslade for the night so still making adequate progress, should be in Bletchley by tomorrow night and Milton Keynes on Sunday. Having read the Nicholson guide for the canal it suggested that the Great Train Robbery of 1963 had taken place near to where we are moored so, following their information took a short walk to a nearby railway bridge that certainly looked like the one from the photos of the time so duly took a number of photos to record having been there. On return to the boat however and doing some research into the location of the offence it appears that it is in fact nowhere near where we are and the bridge that I photographed was a complete red herring. By coincidence the actual location of the offence was about 600 metres from where we moored last night at Slapton Lock, oh well, I’ll know next time!
