Once again, a pleasant cruise bringing us to Tixall Wide where I hope to remain until sometime about Friday or even Saturday. It is a wonderful place to moor overlooking Tixall Gatehouse, a Landmark Trust property available to rent. The forecast looks good, and getting even better towards the end of the week.
As far as today’s trip went, all relatively unremarkable. A few boats on the move but with only 2 locks to do, nothing to hold us up at all. The only small area of concern was on a bend in the canal near to the River and Canal Rescue headquarters where a boat was moored in a position on the bend which obstructed vision ahead for both myself and a boat coming the other way. I had to stop but can’t really call it anything like a ‘near miss’.
When we’ve decided we’ve had enough of Tixall Wide (although that might take a while!) we’ll go up to Great Haywood junction, top up with water, empty stuff and had back towards Birmingham.
