A pleasant and gentle day’s cruise has taken us just beyond Acton Tressel to a bucolic mooring overlooking a field of cows, thankfully away from the motorway. We seemed to have luck on our side at the locks since on several of them we either met a boat just coming out of the lock or just coming up in the lock so our work was made easier.
There was the usual ‘entertainment’ of seeing us travelling a whole lot faster in a narrow boat than the stationary traffic on the M6, despite the insane idea of making it a ‘Smart’ motorway (no hard shoulder) it is still overloaded with traffic.
Tomorrow I expect to get to Tixall Wide where the intention is to moor for a few days before heading back towards Birmingham.
