Hinckley

Here I am  Rune
Distance  7.9 miles
Total 3089 Locks  163 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4600.1 miles

An absolutely glorious day for cruising, hot sun and not a lot of boat traffic, and to put the icing on the cake, when we got to the Hinckley mooring I was aiming for, there was still a space available. It was a day when all went well. On arrival at Hinckley I took a trip into town to try to find a fix for our dodgy gas locker cover. The hinge broke a while back depositing the cover into the canal and taking quite a while to recover. The fix at that time was a sort of temporary one with a bit of wood that has now rotted so a more permanent fix is required. I think I’ve found it by using a box spanner and a length of threaded rod which hopefully will last, we will see, but it at least looks a bit tidier than a rotting old piece of wood did.

Tomorrow we’ll be back onto the Coventry Canal and by Wednesday we’ll be back into locking after a week or so without any.
