In some far better weather than yesterday the passage over the summit pound of the Rochdale was very impressive, the scenery is brilliant. The locks remain quite hard work and the one’s from the summit down to lock 44 are a bit of a nightmare since there doesn’t seem to be many functioning by-weirs so when we emptied a lock it then had to pass through the next lock which meant that trying to open the gate with a flow of water passing through it was a bit testing.

We have moored for the night a couple of locks above where I had originally intended however we are opposite the sanitary station that we will need to make use of tomorrow morning before pressing on since the next Elsan point/water point isn’t until we get into Manchester.
