As stated yesterday a straight run back to Hawne Basin from Wolverhampton today, which in fine weather was a pleasant run. The only hiccup was when we got to Netherton Tunnel on schedule to get back to the basin before the shop had shut, thereby enabling us to fill with diesel and replace the empty gas bottle. That all went somewhat awry when the tunnel was shut for a canoeing/paddleboard event, so we had to stop for lunch on the north side of the tunnel, and by the time we eventually got back to the basin, the shop was shut so we’ll have to sort out the gas/diesel on Monday (the shop is going to be shut tomorrow).

After that it will be heading back to our postal address on Tuesday to vote in the election on Thursday and hope for a change of Government.

Thought that today may have been  problem when it bucketted down with rain whilst we were having breakfast, the Wolverhampton 21 flight isn’t something one would choose to do in the rain, but fortunately it stopped raining befroe we set off and has remained dry all day so it was just the work of 21 locks to cope with. We seem to have come up in about 3 hours and 20 minutes, although pretty much all locks were set in our favour.

Tomorrow it is just a straight run back to Hawne basin with just the 3 locks at Factory to deal with.

Another fairly easy run for the day, just under 8 miles and no locks, the weather has cooled down a bit, and the sort of weather we’ve had today would be ideal for tomorrow going up the Wolverhampton Flight, cooller but sunny.

Still pretty much on schedule, top of Wolverhampton Flight tomorrow and then moor, or if that mooring is taken, go on to Bentley Bridge and then back to Hawne Basin on Saturday.
