Hawkesbury Junction

Here I am Rune
Distance 7.4 miles
Total 2281 Locks  99 Tunnels
Running total mileage 3288 miles

Part one of the ‘cunning plan’ complete, we are back to Hawkesbury Junction for tonight’s overnight stop. The plan for tomorrow is to Brinklow. The reason for the slight sense of urgency is because we need to be back at Braunston before the freezing conditions forecast for the end of the week arrive since if we are likely to be frozen in, Braunston is probably the best location for this to happen.

The only comment about today’s trip was that it was a bit windy in places, although the crucial place where I didn’t want too much wind, the turn out of the Ashby Canal, we actually got what we wished for and the turn went off very easily. Approaching the junction I thought that the wind would be coming from my left which makes a left hand turn with very little momentum quite difficult, fortunately the junction itself was quite sheltered.
