Willingsworth Hall Bridge

Here I am Rune
Distance 4.9 miles
Total 791 Locks 35 Tunnels
Running total mileage 1215.3miles

As stated yesterday we have moved on today to some moorings near to Willingsworth Hall Bridge, which is sort of between Wednesbury and Tipton. Mostly decaying industrial area passed through today although we were slowed down quite a bit because the canal here is fairly shallow and there is unfortunately a lot of rubbish in it. Had to stop twice to clear the propeller, once of a plastic bag and a second time to remove a woven builders sand bag (the sort that carries a tone of sand!). The second prop fouling almost stopped the engine.

Tomorrow may well be a bit of hard work because by my reckoning we need to get through 11 locks and 6 miles of canal to reach the next mooring at Engine Arm. The problem is that this is an area with limited mooring opportunities and once we are through Ryders Green Locks, Engine Arm is the next opportunity. Hope the weather holds for tomorrow, don’t really fancy a hard days locking in the rain!
