So, after three months of lockdown, we are finally back on the move again. Since we are living on the boat it seems that we are permitted to resume non-essential cruising. We have been locked down in the basin since the start and have now used up all of our free mooring days there as we aren’t registered there as having a residential mooring so we now must start to move again, much the same as liveaboard boaters who don’t have any mooring who now have to move on every 14 days once again.
On the trip from Hawne Basin into Birmingham we were the only boat on the move, but since hire boats cannot operate at the moment, that wasn’t a great surprise. I was impressed that the canals haven’t weeded up or become obstructed with rubbish, that only started to appear as we approached Birmingham itself, but generally the canals are still in good shape.
We are here in Birmingham for a couple of days as there is some stuff that I need to do before moving off on Wednesday morning.
