Carnforth

Here I am Rune
Distance  8 miles
Total 3628 Locks  229 Tunnels
Running total mileage 5372.8 miles

Today’s run took us up to Carnforth whose chief claim to fame is that it is a centre for steam heritage railways and was the station used in the 1945 film Brief Encounter, so we will try to have a look at both of them whilst we are here.

The trip from Lancaster was OK, rain was forecast but didn’t come in until after we had moored so I had a dry run steering the boat. We passed along Hest Bank which is probably the only place on an English canal where you have a sea view, the intention is to try to moor there on the way back.
